About Susan Varon
In October 2017, Susan Varon was awarded Best Supporting Actress by the Golden Door International Film Festival for ALMOST PARIS, directed by Domenica Scorsese.
Susan can currently be seen as Ma Loomis in Netflix’s KALEIDOSCOPE and Dolores in CBS’ BULL. Additional recent projects include the NBC-to-Netflix drama, MANIFEST, and Netflix’s thriller series, HIT & RUN.
Other notable roles include Josie, the Hell’s Kitchen bar proprietor, on Netflix’s MARVEL’S DAREDEVIL and MARVEL’S THE DEFENDERS, Mrs. Dadidovitch in James Schamus’ INDIGNATION (which played at the Sundance Film Festival), and Ma in SWUNG (which won Best Short Comedy in 2019 at the Garden State Film Festival). She created the role of Madame Regina on HBO‘s BOARDWALK EMPIRE and has numerous credits that include EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND (currently available on Peacock), THE SOPRANOS (HBO), LAW & ORDER (NBC), and LAW & ORDER SPECIAL VICTIM’S UNIT (NBC).
Additional film credits include CHANGING LANES, Martin Scorsese’s classic, GOODFELLAS, (i.e., Susan made her film debut as an extra in Scorsese’s RAGING BULL in the color home movies section), STRINGERS, INTERSTATE 84, VIRGIN, and LBS. (which was nominated for Best Picture in the 2011 Spirit Awards John Cassavetes category.)
Susan is an accomplished voice artist. She is currently working on a voiceover project for an upcoming independent documentary and has narrated two audiobooks: Joan Didion‘s “The White Album,” and Erica Jong‘s “Shylock’s Daughter: A Novel of Love in Venice.”
Finally, Susan has worked Off-Broadway. She was a co-creator and original cast member of the Obie award-winning phenomenon, Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding., where she originated and performed the role of Tina’s mother, Mrs. Vitale, in New York City, Los Angeles, and Japan.
